  • Stalin's government prosecuted a stamp collector because he had a German stamp with Hitler on it, and an English one with Queen Victoria on it, which were worth more than a Soviet one of Lenin. The interrogator accused him: "So, you rate the queen of our class enemies above Lenin, and Hitler still higher," and forced him to confess that his stamp collecting club was really a counterrevolutionary organization engaged in "criminal anti-Soviet agitation."

  • Meanwhile, wildlife biologists were accused of undermining the five-year plan for fish production, when they noted that fish reproduction is limited by biology. Their crime was implying that there was no difference between communist fish and capitalist fish.

    Soon I get to stop reading about Stalin.
