(a) celebrities / public figures
(b) familiar to undergraduates
(c) probably not familiar to me, because of my *ahem* advancing years
and (d) often strongly liked or disliked?
They could be performers, athletes, etc., but I don't need politicians. Added: Journalists and activists could be good too!
Examples: Paris Hilton, Kanye West, Britney Spears
