A BEAR in my neighborhood!

I do wish I'd gotten to see him!
Yesterday a two-year-old black bear cub started his morning by picking blackberries at the southern edge of Eugene, then wandered down the hill for a mile or so, through residential forest and two cemeteries. He ended up at 38th and Willamette, four blocks from my house. He was scared and climbed a tree, at which point a biologist from the state Dept. of Fish & Wildlife tranq'ed him, and later he woke up in the woods at the southern end of the county. Poor bear!
