Mother's Day 2007

violet_memory's term, dissertation moms!
We finished cleaning just in time for my mom's arrival. We had the brunch and watched the first episode of Adventure of English, during which we learned a lot about Anglo-Saxon. R. and I are eager to see the second episode. B. arrived, and after a while my mom left and D. started his "nap"; the three of us then watched This Is Spinal Tap. Then B&D worked on a puzzle while R. and I napped, then we ate Indian food and watched some of Antiques Roadshow, and then we played Settlers of Catan, which was fun, as usual, except that I spilled some blackberry soda on the table and fear that some of those beautiful cards might still be a bit sticky.
Oh, and I got presents! D. made an illustrated magnetic grocery list thing for the refrigerator and two nice drawings (hearts and lovies, not the usual battles against dragons and aliens). R. gave me some neat garden art - a thing that looks kind of like a plate with slits that will spin, and a windbell with a very fine tone. B. gave me two books from my current list: The Basis of Morality by Schopenhauer and an omnibus of the first three Mapp & Lucia novels. Lucky me!
Also, as always, loving thoughts for my kitty Sappho, who was born on this day 27 years ago. Quite a character; never forgotten.
