A fine Sunday
Mar. 29th, 2026 11:52 pmToday, to my great surprise and relief, Geordi was eating with enthusiasm! I hope it lasts. He seems to eat better if I sit there with him and sing…
I attended a delightful (and free) concert this afternoon – the two members of Delgani who live in Eugene were joined by two other local musicians (as a string quartet) and a classical guitarist to form a new version of the Oregon Guitar Camerata, and they played so many beautiful works. Even Shostakovich, usually so gloomy and/or stressed, wrote reasonably cheerful works for guitar. Besides him, the pieces were by Villa Lobos, Ibert, Oregon composer Jason Heald, the modern French composer Jean Paul Raymond, and of course lovely Boccherini, who has become one of my favorites.
After that, I pretty much wore myself out with housework and yardwork – I should sleep well tonight! I watched a PBS documentary about Bella Abzug, and J and I watched the season two finale of Frieren - even the monsters they fought were spectacularly beautiful.
