in which I use college football games to make my own progress

Today I slept in, then took a bunch of books back to the library (returning 9, acquiring 4), then watched the football game. I can be so productive during the football games because you only need to glance up for the actual play to see what's going on, and you can look elsewhere the rest of the time. I made a bunch more progress on the newspaper backlog, and I finished printing last year's holiday newsletters *ahem*, and during halftime I took out the garbage and sorted through some old clothes. I am even tempted to watch tomorrow's Washington-Washington State game to see if I can make even more progress.

Today Oregon beat Oregon State, 31-7.

(If Washington wins tomorrow, then Oregon faces them again in the conference championship next week, and whichever team that wins has a good chance of playing in the national championship playoffs, because Washington is #4 and Oregon is #6.) (Also, our quarterback is the frontrunner for the Heisman Trophy, the prestigious award given each year to the best college-level quarterback, but the Washington quarterback is also in the running, so Oregon hopes Washington State will win tomorrow.)

It sounds like Oregon State is doing a lot better than Boise state. ;-)

Oregon State was ranked #16; I'm glad they were doing well. Last year, though, when we played Oregon State, we had a 31-17 lead but lost in the fourth quarter, so they were so glad to get past them this time.

I am happy for them - your team!
All I know about our team this year is that things got so bad they fired the coach. I don't follow very close but I like them to win as then most people in town are in a better mood, ha hah.

I have a generally upbeat attitude toward sports events, where winning is fun and losing is no big deal. It's much better than being unhappy!
