The Sunlit Man, by Brandon Sanderson. This is the fourth book from his big "Year of Sanderson" event, and this time I got to read it before J, as he had been reading a long online novel and still plans to finish Frankenstein, too. It turned out this one was related to a Sanderson series that I haven't read, so he'll appreciate that aspect more than I could. The pace was much more hectic than I care for, but the premise was fascinating - a world that's so small that the diameter is maybe 200 miles, and the sun is so hot that it melts the terrain daily. Yet, there are people living on it, in a constant state of migration into the shade. There's also magic going on.
The book also provoked one of my pet peeves, unfortunately, with a character whose name could be pronounced a variety of ways and no clue which it was. "Rebeke" - if it's supposed to be pronounced like "Rebeek" then why not spell it more like that? If it's supposed to be pronounced like Rebekah/Rebecca then why not spell it something like that? And pronouncing it "Reh-beh-keh" seemed more awkward than the other two options.
