A rather cold Friday
Jan. 17th, 2025 11:52 pmToday I woke to learn that J's friend C, a coworker in his department and also his Rolemaster DM, was laid off for budgetary reasons. We are shocked! It sounds like J's job is secure for now, but I certainly hope C can find employment soon.
Our Friday movie was The Red Turtle, and animated movie with no dialogue beyond the word "hey" occasionally - a man is shipwrecked on an island, and each time he builds a raft a turtle knocks it apart from beneath, so he flips the turtle over and it lies on the sand until it dies... but then it becomes a woman, with whom the man has a child, who grows and leaves the island with his turtle friends, and eventually the couple ages. At the end, the woman is a turtle again and returns to the ocean. J quipped that it was a very long-term strategy for righting itself.
