Today I woke feeling nauseous and shaky - not a great start to my birthday. J. had felt unwell yesterday but pretty good today, so I hope I'll bounce back as quickly.

Also Ambrose is missing, and none of us has seen him since yesterday afternoon at the latest. It's been cold, though, and of all the outdoor cats, Ambrose is the most likely to just find a good spot and nap until things are over, so we're hoping he's just fine. If someone had befriended him and decided to adopt him, well, he's microchipped, which should help. Nevertheless, I used quite a bit of my minimal energy on looking for him.

So, birthday! Let's see. After D. got home from class, he showered and wrapped my gift, and J. had wrapped gifts earlier in the day, so around 5 pm we went to his house. I had cards from my sister and Z., as well as the two of them. D. gave me a nice mug with a photo and quote from the character Adrian Monk. J. gave me two Magic packs, a plush version of a video-game character named Hornet, and... DVDs of the entire 720 episodes of Naruto and Naruto Shippuden. I am so delighted!

We ordered pasta from Pastini, and I was able to eat some of mine, thankfully. Then, rather than playing a game together or watching a movie, my request was for D. to play the first bit of the fun game I'd gotten him for Christmas last year that he hadn't started yet (Yoku's Island Express), so I could watch on J's big TV. His reaction times are much better than mine; there's little point for me to try it myself. He played for at least an hour, and I think he liked it; then he went home to do some homework.

And I got lots and lots of birthday greetings: at least 30 people on Facebook, an email from my coworker JA, and texts from B. and R.

Update: And Ambrose did turn up for the late night meal, whew! ♥
