Whew! These things are always good to get past, and we got this one in a week early. It's not a very big proposal - I'd get 20% of my full-time salary for two years - but that's much better than the nearly zero percent I'm getting now. It would start in about 13 months. The funding rate is only 13%, though. But that's about twice the funding rate of the NEH fellowship I applied for in March. I'll hear about that one in about five weeks.

The best part about getting the proposal submitted is that now I can work on what I want to work on again, with all the enthusiasm that comes from not getting to do that for more than a month. So, yay!

Another nice thing today was getting to have a conversation with S. She's driving now, and they picked up food at McDonald's and brought it to my house to eat, marveling at how much money they can save by not having food delivered. She's about to spend a week visiting a friend in a small town in Eastern Oregon.
