Day 740: Fence-tidying and house-mopping
Mar. 27th, 2022 11:52 pmJ's front lawn is separated from a flowerbed with climbing roses by a series of black metal fence panels that are set in a row and sort of tied together. Time, growing rose bushes, and the occasional deer have not been kind to them. Today's project was setting them back in place and adding more wire to secure the tying-up. It was a two-person job, and there were two of us to do it. And it does look much better now!
Also I discovered that a wet mop can effectively clean the very dirty siding on the north side of his house. I only did a "proof of concept" test today, but it's so dirty that any improvement is immediately satisfying.
Then we looked in my backyard and found that the apple tree, which you may recall fell halfway over last year, having produced more than 1100 apples, appears to be leafing out properly, so propping it up with an old dolly seems to have worked. And, after years of apparently not blooming, one of the daffodils that my step-dad's first wife had planted in their garden back in the late '70s or early '80s, which I saved when we sold the house eight or nine years ago, has bloomed once more.
