Britt-Marie Was Here, by Fredrik Backman. We read this for book club; we'd read his A Man Called Ove a couple of years ago. Britt-Marie is a rather difficult housewife in her early 60s who leaves her cheating husband and takes a job in a very small village. And then everything improves. Good book.

So many errands. I drove D. to get his allergy shot, and while he was doing that I went to my library appointment to turn in three books and get a new one. After that I did a bit of gift-shopping for his birthday on my way back to the clinic. There wasn't enough time for the second errand I planned, so I drove D. home then returned for it. This one was getting the actual account numbers for some of my mom's banking, so that I can access them online. I hadn't been to that bank branch before, but they were friendly and helpful. I appeared to be the only customer.

On my way home from that I stopped at Market of Choice and got chicken strips for J&D and a spinach-gorgonzola pizza slice for me, then after dinner I discovered I'd gone too long before eating the cantaloupe I'd bought some time back, and I really wanted cantaloupe, so I also went to Safeway, where I bought cantaloupe and peaches and raspberries. So self-indulgent! I kept wondering if all my food spending was triggered by spending time thinking about my mom's money. Today I learned that she had almost $500 in a savings account I didn't know about - icing on the cake. Or rather, lavish fresh fruit spending spree.
