Day 117: Disappointment
Jul. 9th, 2020 11:45 pmToday I learned from Isabelle, my agent, that the publishing company I'd most wanted for my book has had to pass. Two of the editors looked at my proposal, and they definitely liked it, but someone there decided that it's enough like another book they're doing that they couldn't do mine too. I am bummed! I have to be patient, while she finds another company that would also be a good fit.
At least they liked it.
This afternoon I was in a tiresome meeting for an hour and 40 minutes, but later for fun I did our symphony conductor's watch party, where he hosted a friend of his who's a composer, and who I saw speak in person at a happy hour back when we got to have such things. The topics were interesting, and later our conductor used my name twice when looking at our Facebook comments, which made me happy.
Then J. and I went on a walk, where we saw some very interesting flowers - the owner saw us admiring them and came out to talk with us. Then we met a friendly cat, and we also saw a yard where people had displayed a whole bunch of toy animals, in the 8-15" range mostly, dinosaurs, elephants in a ring, tigers stalking each other, and gorillas riding on the backs of giraffes.
At least they liked it.
