Would you like to see some gorgeous scenery of our spectacular McKenzie River, while listening to Vivaldi's "Four Seasons" as performed by the Eugene Symphony? If so, sign up here: Four Seasons of the McKenzie. You'll get a password that's good until June 9.

I've been enjoying our conductor Francesco's watch parties four nights a week, and then they decided to make a video of this special event from 2018, in which local photographers sent in photos and videos of the river, which were collated to provide accompaniment to the music. At 7 pm, Francesco hosted a pre-concert event on his Facebook page, where he told us the storyline Vivaldi wrote to go with the music (about a hundred years before anyone else did something similar). Then we switched over to the concert page and watched, then I went back to Francesco's page for a Q&A session afterwards. So fun! I don't think J's seen much of the McKenzie yet, though his office is planning a move near the flat (and boring) part.

(We have two rivers here. The Willamette (wil-LAM-it) comes from south-east of us and after emerging from the mountains is a very domesticated river, flowing all the way north to Portland, where it reaches the Columbia. The McKenzie comes from the east and merges with the Willamette north of town. It's a much wilder and colder river, beautiful year-round but especially known for its fall colors. Our exceptionally high quality tap water comes from the McKenzie too; I'm drinking some of it right now.)
