"Red chair night"
Aug. 4th, 2019 11:51 pmAfter doing a fair amount of work today, I went to the office to print stuff, then to Washburne Park to see the Klezmonauts doing a concert in the park. We all sat on the grass, except those who brought chairs, and listened to klezmer music. The parents of one of D's elementary school friends were sitting behind me. At one point, there was dancing - almost 20 women joined in a circle and danced to an Israeli song. I'd been looking forward to hearing klezmer clarinet, but they didn't have one. Instead, they had a fiddle, a mandolin, an electric bass guitar, and a drum set. I did buy one of their CDs with a locally famous clarinet player, though.
After that, I came home and headed to T's for "red chair night." T. has a set of red chairs in a circle in her front yard, and congenial neighbors gather to chat. This time it was T, KS from across the street, and AC from a few houses down. We had a lot to say about the Democratic candidates. AC's husband MR joined us after a while, then J. came too. We stayed until the mosquitos started to bite, then headed home.
