Taking the day off
Jul. 3rd, 2019 11:52 pmToday I was supposed to go to a meeting downtown for the youth orchestras and then get a bunch of work done. I've got a mild sore throat again, though, and woke up tired, so I decided not to do much. I made progress on my re-watch of Carmen (the only opera I like, so far, and that's because of the instrumental music). After J. got home from work (early, due to the holiday), we sat outside to read, and instead of staying in the shade as I usually prefer, instead I wanted to soak up the heat. After a while, I realized that what I really wanted to do was to take a nap outside, so I went home and got my picnic tablecloth and a cushion, and I came back and found a sunny spot and curled up on the grass. For a while, I watched the leaves of the large maple overhead, rustling in the evening sunshine, then I slept a bit. It was great.
Later, the nextdoor neighbor did a bunch of fireworks in her backyard, and I was worried that the kittens would be stressed, having never experienced such racket before. Afterwards, though, I came home to check on them and they were all just fine.
