Book club

Tonight at book club we discussed I Capture the Castle, and our host (KS) made the rather profound observation that the dad's return to creativity coincided not just with his encounter with the Americans but also with his renewed ability to ingest more than an absolute minimum of calories. That is, finally he could eat more than a few tidbits a day. Maybe the poor guy was just starving all those years!

T. had come for a break from class, being very stressed about the big assignment of designing a research study relevant to her student teaching this coming fall. We all had lots of encouraging ideas, and I've got so much experience writing that sort of thing, which I can translate into helping to make it feel more manageable, and she is now feeling so relieved. I am so glad!
