Youth Symphony!
Sep. 25th, 2017 11:55 pmAlthough he would much prefer to have three additional hours of free time on Monday evenings, D. is obliging me by continuing in the regional Youth Symphony, and tonight was the first rehearsal of the season. This year he and LL are co-principals for clarinet. LL looked happy to see him. They're preparing five pieces, and so far all I know about them is that one is familiar-sounding from Tchaikovsky, one is part of Sibelius's second symphony, one is from West Side Story, one is from Gershwin's "American in Paris," and one is by Mahler. D. grumbled a fair amount on our way out the door, but when I picked him up he seemed to be in a fine mood.
