...and more snow (urgh)
Jan. 7th, 2017 04:38 pmToday we added another two inches of snow, on top of the existing ice. Supposedly the temperature will rise to 40 degrees in a few hours, or maybe tomorrow, and melt it all away. Not a bit too soon.
Last night we walked half a block to Safeway for more milk and a couple of "duraflame" logs, and we were so careful to pick out the best possible route for each step... until we were about two houses away from mine, and J. was ahead of me, and I started walking too fast to catch up, and my legs slipped out from under me and I fell on the side of my thigh. If I weren't relatively well-padded these days, I would surely have broken some bones. As it was, it took a full minute or two to be assured that I hadn't even sprained anything. What a large and sore bruise I have now. Adding that onto the biceps tendon thing that keeps me awake at night, I'm not terribly comfortable.
My ambitions for the day are few. I ran the dishwasher, watched a Star Trek: TNG episode, and worked a bit on this week's newspaper backlog. Later, maybe we'll make quesadillas in J's toaster oven (assuming I make it up the driveway to his house), and presumably we'll watch the Saturday night anime. I ought to start the book club book, too.
