Surprise!

Today we had a surprise party for my friend C -- she came over for a Magic draft, but I also got a card and mylar balloon and a cake to surprise her, as she's finishing up her schooling and will start her new career as a high school math teacher in the fall. At my old high school! C. credits me with inspiring her to go back to school, when she saw me doing so in my 40s. She had earned two master's degrees and was working on her doctorate when her first child was born with special needs, so she stayed home to be a mom. Now he's doing well, and her husband got tired of his high-stress career so he quit, creating this great opportunity for her.

I had them put a math equation on the cake. It says, in math terms, "The change in C___ with respect to time = TEACHER". :)
