As spring term draws toward its close
Jun. 2nd, 2016 10:57 pmTonight was the final concert of the school year. Whew! The graduating seniors got to conduct pieces of their choice, so we had selections from Pokemon, Super Smash Bros., Little Mermaid, Lion King, Doctor Who, etc. D. played one of the two clarinet solo parts in a lovely piece about Lothlorien, conducted by Dante H, one of the most accomplished seniors and a very nice fellow. Aside from that, I especially enjoyed the wacky theatrics accompanying the Little Mermaid, including a boy with an Ariel-style wig, and four mermaids including Ariel wearing giant green construction-paper tails.
Now D's working on the rough draft for his big applied math paper on probabilities related to mana in Magic: The Gathering. I'm glad we've got J. here to help him with it. I can just sit on the couch and enjoin Ajani to patience; he's more than ready for his midnight meal, and he's tugging at my hair for attention.
There are still two more weeks of school, but it seems increasingly more like summer!
