"Spring Holiday"

J’s employer, which is now based in St. Louis, doesn’t honor two long-standing federal holidays (Veterans Day and Presidents Day), but it does observe something called “Spring Holiday,” which for most of their employees is Good Friday. This is natural for him, as apparently the schools in the South also have Good Friday off as a matter of course, but I’d never heard of such a thing. It wouldn’t surprise me if our local Catholic schools have a Good Friday holiday, but public schools and businesses? Completely off the radar.
