Saturday, cozy
Aug. 30th, 2014 09:10 pmI think I felt better today. The day’s been mostly relaxing and fun, too. We had friends come over to play Magic with us – first C. and her son, and we played some Commander in a free-for-all. At one point, J’s deck went kind of crazy and the rest of us had to band together to try to shut him down, and that was the most fun of it. Then our other friend C. arrived, and we did a draft with six of us. Almost everyone had strong opinions about which set to draft from – D. wanted M15 not Theros, S. and I wanted Theros and not M15, and J. had this idea about drafting from Return to Ravnica block, which I know very little about. We came up with a wacky compromise – one pack from RtR (Dragon’s Maze), one from Theros, and one from M15 – and all of us opinionated folks became enthusiastic. I won only one of five games, the unofficial one, but one is better than none.
Our friends are comfortable people, and it was nice to have them around. After D. and our friends left, then J. and I went out to dinner at the Mexican place. Now I’m watching one quarter of the first Ducks football game of the year, and when it gets to halftime, I think we’re going to watch Pacific Rim.
It’s raining a bit outside, and it’s cozy inside. We’re cuddling with our cat-babies. At J’s house we can watch the hummingbirds in the hibiscus. “Mr. Deer” has been around a lot today, too – I saw him just a few feet away, heading to my back yard, when I opened the door in the morning to bring in the morning paper, and after dinner he was hanging around the driveway then eating Mercy’s flowers.
