I was extra-sleepy last night, couldn’t even stay awake for the fourth anime show, and then this morning, within an hour of waking up, I realized that I’m sick. Feels like labyrinthitis, probably – queasy, a bit dizzy, short of breath, and my digestion is fine. Or it could be a bad reaction to air pollution, some other chemicals I’ve been around, or last night’s smoke exposure.
Anyway, I spent the day reading Finding Nouf, a detective story set in Saudi Arabia. When solving the murder of a lively young woman from a wealthy family, it helps to have a man and a woman working together, since their access to each other’s worlds is so limited, but then their every interaction is so awkward, since they’re unmarried and unrelated.
The sign at the abandoned zoo where they find many of their clues: “Children May Be Accompanied by Either Their Mother or Father But Not Both Parents. Boys over the Age of 10 Are Considered Adults.”
