“Flash Light”!
Aug. 2nd, 2014 09:25 pmFor dinner, J. and I went out to the Flying Squirrel Tavern and had french dip sandwiches. There were only two other customers – a loud guy at the bar chatting with the female bartender, and an older guy playing video poker in the back room. The thing about the Flying Squirrel, which is a sports bar, is that usually they have the music way too loud. Tonight it was only moderately loud, and to my delight, they were playing funk and r&b from the late '70s. I even got to hear my favorite song from high school: “Flash Light” by Parliament! I wish I had a turntable so I could listen to my 45 of their “Do Fries Go With That Shake?”
In other news, D&J practiced the team sealed format of Magic, and I got my first dissertation paper manuscript into nearly ready condition then started reading our local author Jerry Oltion’s The Getaway Special, a fast-paced science fiction novel about the discovery of hyperdrive technology and the resulting political and social upheavals.
