And here's an interruption in your regularly scheduled broadcast of kitten tales... the forecast of possibly 2-3 inches of snow starting around 9 p.m. today turned into 8 inches of snow by 3 p.m. Around that time, I set forth and walked as far as D's school to meet up with J, then we came back here, collected D, and tried out a different sledding location than usual, the far side of an otherwise forested hill near my house. It was a steeper slope, more private, and – most important – somewhat easier to walk to than the sledding spot in the park, as it was nearly all flat, whereas the park is a bit downhill from us. I'd already slipped and fallen on a routine trip to Safeway, and my right hip is still aching. I don't think my wrist is quite sprained from either of my two falls today, or if it is, it's inconsequential. J's technique of wrapping his shoes in plastic bags proved very helpful, when I adapted it for my own bootless feet. I put on thick socks, then plastic bags over them, secured with rubber bands, then sandals. My feet have never been warmer or more dry in snow before.
Probably no more snow will fall, but what we have should be with us through the weekend. Umm, the forecast says a low of 9 degrees F. tomorrow – I've never experienced anything like that.
