Easter 2013

I got to pick D. up early from R’s! We had Easter baskets (the Bunny brought me white tulips and a pretty tulip Easter card), then we watched D. hunt for the eggs in the yard, then he hid some plastic ones for us (tricksy, too). After we’d found those I went shopping, then we went to the woods! I wanted to look for salamanders in the pond above D’s friend’s house, which they’d once seen in the spring, but instead I found a snake that swam away and a frog that eventually did likewise. The only wildflowers were spring maids, buttercups, Oregon grape, and a few white trilliums; most of the fawn lilies (erythronium) were just in bud, and we did see one calypso orchid but only one.

For dinner we had roast chicken with potatoes, carrots, and leeks. D. skipped the potatoes and had club crackers. J. and I also had some smoked gouda with bacon, and I had asparagus. Now we’re nearing the end of a marathon of four Inuyasha episodes, trying to make space on the DVR for both Masterpiece Theater and the Game of Thrones season premiere.

I am wearing my garish Easter socks (turquoise, lime green, and hot pink with bunnies and butterflies). They’re too warm for my feet on such a warm day, but it must be done.
