Today was the last day of D’s five-day weekend, and we had fun playing Mario Party in the afternoon. We also watched an episode of Fairy Tail when J. was here. Plus, I got my proposal into submission-ready condition – not nearly as much work as a full-length one, or an original submission, but it still took time and distracted me from what I’d rather have been doing.

I took our ballots to an official collection point today; civic duty done. I’ve been practically avoiding FB for the last few weeks. I’m finding that hysteria from my friends on the left is bothering me just as much as hysteria from my (generally far more distant) friends on the right. Partly it’s because I don’t like political hysteria, and partly it’s because I then start to worry about the degree to which they (the ones on the left) might be right. Oh well. Within the next 24 hours, I can either breathe a sigh of relief and hope Obama now gets his act together (as described in this NYT article that relates quite directly to my dissertation*), or I can start trying to reconcile myself to that other guy.

* So much so that during my oral defense, Azim asked me what I thought Obama ought to be doing differently during this campaign.
