May. 9th, 2012 11:05 pmTonight was the middle school’s main fund-raiser for electives: a raffle, a silent auction, a dinner, and then a cabaret featuring all the elective classes. I toured the auction and made a few bids earlier in the day, then I came back in time for the cabaret. Some of our friends had “bought” a table and invited us to join them once their other friends had left – very welcome after an hour sitting in the bleachers. About a quarter of the kids in the beginning band class, including D, had practiced some harder pieces so that they could perform with the Band III class; they did the theme from The Magnificent Seven and a medley of music from The Lion King. I’m hoping he’ll join the jazz band next year; I think they practice at 8 a.m., though.
I feel more relaxed about my dissertation after meeting with G. today. Yes, I have just two weeks in which to finish the whole thing – and our new proposal – but G’s working on the latter for the next 4-5 days, so (a) I can focus on just my dissertation, and (b) he doesn’t have time yet to give me dissertation feedback anyway.
