Yes, bother!
Jun. 3rd, 2011 09:58 pmHonestly, the weather was so nice today (finally over 70̊ again! the third or fourth such day this spring!), that it was hard to feel too stressed by the news, but... within the very minute that I gave the final piece of my new NIH submission to our AA to upload, I also got the news that my February submission is not going to get funded. It didn’t even get scored, which means that it’s unlikely I’ll be able to fix it adequately when I resubmit it. I’ll get their comments in a few weeks.
Bottom line: No actual external funding until April, at the very soonest. That would be under the best-case scenario for the one I’m submitting right now, if they love it so much they don’t even need to see it a second time. We do have some internal funding for writing proposals and running pilot studies, which is what I’ll be living on for the next two months, but I don’t know if I can sustain enough of that to keep my benefits indefinitely.
We shall see!
