I caught a mouse in the garage today, or rather, he or she caught him/herself. The mouse had fallen into an old cat food bag and couldn't escape. So so so cute! We let it out on the front lawn, near our oak and hawthorn trees. If it was motivated and had a good sense of direction, Mouseling could have been back in the garage within minutes, but he or she headed in another direction first.
(I do think animals deserve gendered pronouns, but it's often inconvenient!)
