This afternoon was the first of four sessions of “Multiskill Academy,” a Kidsports thing I’d signed D. up for. When it was nearly time to leave, I discovered that my watch was abruptly and inexplicably 7 minutes slow! So we were 6 minutes late, how embarrassing, esp. as there were only 7 other kids. At least we were ahead of the second coach. The first coach was Bev Smith, the former UO women’s basketball coach, and by the end of the two-hour session they also had professional football player Josh Bidwell hanging out with them. So that part was cool, but boy was D. exhausted when I picked him up. Two hours of many variants of running, and also throwing, catching, jumping, and who knows what else, with only five one-minute breaks. By Thursday he should be in great shape. Afterwards we went out and bought him a new steel water bottle in the most beautiful shade of blue.
