Data giddiness
Jan. 5th, 2009 08:31 pmThis evening I've been trying to watch the Fiesta Bowl, but it's been too hard to focus. First, I ought to be rooting for Ohio State to lose so that Oregon can finish the season in the top 10, but Arnold earned one of his degrees there, and it's hard to root against a family connection. Second and more important, I am so distracted by having my data set all cleaned up and ready to play with!
This is the data for my supporting area study, one of the requirements in my PhD program. I'm studying, basically, whether thinking critically and vividly about the future are opposite tendencies or whether they're independent of each other. I can't start looking at that question yet, though, because I have some 600 paragraphs to code first. I do have answers to the accompanying survey questions, though, so I can see how some of the conventional scales compare with each other, and so I can find out if the two constructs I'm piloting are going to be workable.
So, back to SPSS!
