I got almost nothing done today - I printed the latest draft of G’s proposal but never got to read a word of it. So hectic. Lunch was canned Persian food, then during D’s rest we got to watch Mean Girls (with four interruptions). It’s about how a cute and popular girl learns to embrace her inner Mathlete. Well, no, it’s not about that at all, it’s about relational aggression, which is why I’d seen 10 minutes of it in Issues. (R. said, so this is what you do in PhD class...) It was fun.
My very favorite local restaurant today opened a branch in our part of town with family meals to go! We tried to patronize them, but today they were only capable of appetizers and a penne/chicken entrée. By this point we wanted a fancy dinner, so we went with Chef’s Kitchen, our neighborhood Swiss-PNW restaurant. We split some shrimp kabobs with mango relish, then R. had “Jaegerschnitzel mit Spätzle” (and wild mushrooms), and I had “polenta porcini lasagna” with spinach, artichokes, boletus mushrooms, and a bechamel sauce. Then we all three watched a cool travel photography show about Madagascar. I knew about the lemurs, but I didn’t know about the deserts with the pillar-like baobab trees, or the really jagged pinnacles in the south.
