Easter is especially fun when your child - even though he'll be 7 this summer - really believes in the Easter bunny. First, D. and I headed out the door for our annual Easter walk, but, wow! We opened the door, and there was an Easter basket, full of treats! So that delayed us a bit, but then we set forth. We looked at a great many kinds of flowers in bloom; we also saw two cats and a bumblebee. We even saw a yard where the Bunny had hidden eggs for probably a small child, as they were in plain sight on the lawn. Soon we were home, and from the street D. spotted an egg hidden in our Japanese maple. Thus began our annual Easter egg hunt.

My favorite hiding spot, in the ivy climbing up the cottonwood:

Next I made brunch (asparagus frittata, biscuits, sliced apples, and juice), and we watched the new Charlotte's Web movie. (I especially liked D's excited exclamation: "The Easter Bunny even put stickers inside the Charlotte's Web DVD!") Then we all napped. At 6 p.m. we went to my mom's, for one of Those Dinners. My sister wasn't feeling well and didn't really make eye contact for a while, but eventually she and R. discussed British politics while D. and his uncle played hide-and-seek.

And now I need to type up some discussion questions for tomorrow's class and finish reading the Varela book.
