I may have managed to add "purl" to my *ahem* vast knitting repertoire, thanks to careful review of the instructional videos the teacher showed us and some help from
owl_of_minerva. However, I can't make a nice transition between knitting and purling in the same row; the stitches get twisted. Also, if you want to have your piece all look the same, don't you have to do the opposite stitches when you get to the next row? Mysteries...
Edit, 3 hrs later. I do seem to have learned how to purl, but I still don't see why, since the needle gets turned around, that one doesn't have to do the other kind to make each row look the same.
