Lillian Langseth-Christensen
Nov. 14th, 2004 09:07 pmMy mom was donating a bunch of Gourmet magazines to the Friends of the Library, and I found that a bunch of the issues were ones from the 1970s, with travel articles by Lillian Langseth-Christensen. I remember these were such wonderful escapism; she'd visit Austrian castles, the Bois du Boulogne in Paris, etc., and eat these fabulous meals. So I brought about ten of them home with me today. Just the perfect thing for collapsing on the couch with, after work.
I walked back through the park and got these pictures of the park's dawn redwood (Metasequoia). Mine lives in a pot and lost its feathery needles weeks ago. I like the conifers that turn color in the fall.

I also excavated the back corner of the garage today. In the very bottom, furthest, deepest box I found... a bunch of clothes I used to wear all the time before we moved back from Oakland. I can't imagine how they got stuffed into a box, other than just in the general packing frenzy. I was hoping to come across the strange, vibrant orange, diaphanous gown my grandma once sent me, because it would be perfect for a costume. I had wanted to go back to a Darkover convention as the Sharra Matrix. Also, I found a box with B's preschool Halloween costumes in it: a fireman, a pirate, and Robin Hood. Aww.
