Vibrant Matter: A Political Ecology of Things, by Jane Bennett. Not Jane Bennet, the oldest daughter in Pride and Prejudice, this one's a political theorist and philosopher. She makes a case for anthropomorphizing "maybe a bit" in order to take into account that many of the issues facing us today include actors and acting entities beyond those classified as human, and that treating matter as inert and fully explainable by mechanistic models will fail to yield useful explanations. I'll have more to say about this book later, probably in a blog post, but I'm tired now... :)
