Day 795: Quarantine life

We are all still in quarantine. J and I aren't required to be, since our COVID tests were negative, but since we're sick it seems like the right thing to do. But, I mean, it's like having a very minor cold plus tiredness for us - and we are so thankful for the vaccine!
D's still full-fledged sick, lots of coughing, sore throat, etc. He is not having fun at all, but at least his head is clear, as he doesn't have much of a fever, if any. Yesterday S. (who also has it) brought him some of his favorite Hawaiian food, which she'd had delivered. Today the sore throat medicine I'd ordered from Amazon on Friday night arrived for him.
J. and I did lots of small household tasks today, and we read outside a while too. Ambrose is particularly happy that we like to spend time outdoors in warm weather. He loves to run and jump up into any available lap! And then he loves to be brushed:

I hope he gets better soon!

Date: 2022-05-24 02:35 am (UTC)Yes, D. was vaccinated - two doses of Pfizer and a Moderna booster. Same as J; they went together. (I was all-Moderna.) My theory is that since I catch every cold that goes around, and some colds are coronaviruses, maybe I had some immunity? Or maybe D. had stressed his immune system too much with the big workout he did the day he got sick. He's having a rough time. I do think he's a bit better today, though - he says his throat is much better, at least!

I had a few very unusual bad colds. Each time I tested negative for Covid but I think I probably already had it, not knowing.

Date: 2022-05-26 07:59 pm (UTC)I think what happened is that our booster shot had sort of worn off. When they said it was okay to get a second booster, I had thought it made sense to wait until fall - but I didn't take into account that COVID rates might go up in late spring and that D. gets exposed to all those other people on campus, many of whom are no longer bothering to wear masks.
