Today D. got a letter from the university admissions office. I assumed it was the exciting letter he was looking forward to, so I sent him a text (he was with R. for the afternoon). Then I held it up to the light and saw that they were saying they couldn't process his application until they get his high school transcript. He was "pretty upset" about that, because he did the transcript request well over a month ago, and it's not supposed to take more than two weeks. I e-mailed his school registrar and got an auto-reply that she's out until March 1st.

There's no serious risks that the UO won't take him. Our friend DG joked that if D. showed up the day before classes start and announced that he wanted to enroll, with his GPA and SAT scores they'd still let him in. J. joked that they might reject him, ""Sorry, you are too smart for our school, please go to Harvard instead." In the worst case scenario, I'd go talk to the admissions officers, no big deal. But still, it's stressful for D.
