Computer woes

For someone who owns so many computers, I find myself strangely limited in being able to use any these days.
- The Bad Laptop (Lenovo Y40) has gotten much less reliable – it can take an hour or more to get it to start up, trying continuously after each failure, and if it does start it can hardly be relied upon. Fortunately even when I’m using it I’m saving my do-list to my company’s network drive (my private directory) rather than the machine, so it’s not a huge inconvenience, just tiresome.
- Today I wanted to type a few notes so I took the Toshiba over to J’s house, only to discover that the new keyboard is now far worse than the old one ever was, and it doesn’t seem to have a way for the Bluetooth keyboard to connect any more, weirdly. I had fun posting the results of some “normal speed typing experiments” to Facebook.
- And then the desktop, which I’m using now, well, it’s fine, except that (a) it’s not mine so I don’t want to put personal stuff on it, and (b) the monitor is an old and slowly failing 13” CRT monitor from *ahem* July 2002.
