Okay, so if I submit by new proposal on March 5, then I have a chance of funding for some or all of the period between September 1 and April 1 of the coming year. But I shouldn't submit the proposal unless the papers are done. So realistically, that means I have about three weeks to get the last of the papers to my co-authors for their input. That means the analyses need to be done in about three weeks, so I can do that.
Meanwhile, our data analyst was prepaid for the work at this point but is now working full-time at the university and fits my stuff in when he has time. But he's sloppy and erratic. And, for example, I sent him the first part of a multi-part thing to do on the 5th, and today I checked back and learned that he can't start it until the 21st. So now I've hired a new analyst - never mind that the other guy has already been paid; he's not delivering. Tomorrow I get to start bringing the new analyst up to speed. She is going to be my hero!
