It continues unseasonably warm. J. did not "back down," but he didn't do well in the event either, overall. Our friend DG finished in 3rd or 4th, but had had a good shot at winning; meanwhile, his wife sprained her ankle yesterday or this morning, so it's too bad he wasn't at home to help.

Meanwhile, I went to the opening concert for the Oregon Bach Collegium, this time featuring Baroque works associated with eastern Europe. Two were by Polish composers who had trained in Italy, and two were by Italian composers who spent long years in the courts of Russia, and one was by an Italian composer who probably knew the others and was included because one of the three musicians is a cellist and none of the other pieces featured the cello. The Sonata No. 4 in E-minor by Luigi Madonis was really something special.
