At this point, the blackberry vines behind my house may be more than I can reasonably handle. I don't think D. and J. can help much because many of the leaves are covered with white mildew - J. is so sharply allergic that surely it wouldn't be good to expose D, who of the two of them is the one actually known to be allergic to mildew. Probably at this point I should arbitrarily pick one of the Mexican-American-owned blackberry cleanup services listed on Craigslist and have them come and take care of it. The tricky bit is what route to take to get the branches out of there - the long way around, all the way around the house, through a narrow passage partially blocked by my favorite lilac, or the very short route over the fence, or should we just take down a section of fence for the time being? Decisions, decisions...
