Sad oak

I finally got around to measuring the four "trunks" of my scarlet oak that broke off in this year's storm; they're each between 12 and 15' long. When it originally broke about three years ago, I lost the top 19' but it was long and spindly then. Now the tree's branching pattern is wide and it "just" lost the top middle... we'll see what it manages to come up with.

In better news, I heard from my Persian friend, and she assures me that she and her family (parents, brother, sister) are all U.S. citizens at this point.
