Amazing Magical Golden Spinning Bunny!

(Why do I not have a bunny icon besides Lola?)
Tonight, on my walk, I turned a corner and suddenly saw what at first glance looked like a rabbit, sitting in the street. I thought, "Wait, surely it's a cat..." then looked again, and sure enough, it was a honey-colored bunny, long bunny-ears and all, sitting there in the street. A few blocks north of my house, there's a house with a big front lawn where the people let their pet rabbits graze, so the idea of pet rabbits wandering about is not entirely foreign to me, but, still, the street?
I stopped and spoke to the bunny, expecting he or she would be startled and run off, but the most amazing thing happened. The bunny hopped over to me and began running in circles around me, maybe 4" from my feet. First four or five times counter-clockwise, then s/he switched to clockwise and ran and ran and ran. I wanted to pet the bunny, but thought surely that wouldn't be permitted, and I know that rabbits can bite really hard if they're unhappy, so I was quite tentative as I reached down. The bunny loved it, and for a moment stopped circling me and instead began spinning in place, while the petting lasted. The bunny also stretched him/herself up my left leg a couple of times, for more petting, and whenever I wasn't petting, she or he resumed running in tight circles around my feet.
Surely this bunny has a human family, being this sociable, but if I hadn't been five or six blocks from my house it would have been tempting to bring my new friend home with me. I hope it's safe enough for a rabbit to hang around in the street like that, and that the large raccoon J. saw recently won't go after it either. BUNNY!
Added: Ha, from an online guide to rabbit communication: "You may receive an invitation to pair dance, as evidenced by your rabbit running in circles around you. This means the rabbit is basically crazy about you, and terribly happy to see you, and is a very common enthusiastic greeting."
