Long evening

It’s 11:55 p.m. and – oh, here’s an interception, okay, the football game I’ve been watching is finally over. It started at 7:30 p.m. and Cal had a substantial lead for a while, then Oregon came back, and there were two overtimes. Honestly, I’d just as soon Cal made the field goal they tried with 4 seconds left in regulation, but at least it’s finally over. Four and a half hours.
Meanwhile, D’s at the main local game store playing Magic with the standard deck he wanted to practice before tomorrow’s big event. He was undefeated and made top 8, so now we’re just waiting until – and here’s a message on my phone, presumably from him? Yep, he won the quarterfinals, now on to the semis. So, another hour or more...
Update. He was undefeated and won $42.50, and we picked him up at 1:30 a.m., then after we got home it took until 2:05 a.m. to find his wallet (which was in his backpack), then finally people could sleep. Now he's gone back for today's big event, to try to win a share of $1000 and qualify for the regional pro tour qualifier. (This pro tour's in Nashville, not as thrilling as Europe or Asia.)
