Good things, bad things

D. did make Youth Symphony, joining the one remaining clarinet from last year. His best friend did not, though, and a mutual friend teased her about it in the afternoon (he's been in it for at least two years already, being a violist), and she cried on the bus on the way home. So it's a mixed blessing.
D. just got Overwatch, the new Blizzard game, and is playing it with a friend on the phone with him. For a first-person shooter it seems pretty tame.
Meanwhile, we're still waiting for the neighbor to get her plumbing fixed, and I'm having to park on the street, and since I haven't gotten around to getting the locks fixed on my car, it's been unlocked. Not a big deal since there's nothing of value in it (just a few quarters), except that last night someone went through all the compartments, just like in December, and then left the door not entirely shut, just like in December, and my battery was drained, just like in December. Discovering this when I was trying to get D's grandma's birthday card in the mail in time for her Monday birthday was exasperating; I had to walk to the post office instead, and it rained on the way back. AAA came and jump-started the car, and I drove it around a while, and then parked it in my driveway again. With luck I won't get trapped in there with the plumbing excavation.
