“Jazz Cabaret”

It’s a fun event at D’s school, tonight and tomorrow night, where his jazz band performs, and the middle school jazz band performs, and the more elite of the high school choirs performs. The audience gets to sit at tables that are covered with white poster paper, and crayons are supplied so we can draw, and desserts are provided by the families. J. had helped D. make brownies filled with mini m&ms, and our little neighbor Milena chose one of them for her plate of treats.
R. had thought his girlfriend would come, but she wasn't feeling well, and as she hasn’t yet attended any of D’s performances it was not a big surprise. J. did come; he drew Jupiter with rings and four moons, and a big rainbow.
My favorite piece was the choir’s a capella jazz rendition of “Blackbird.”
I am unaccountably tired; the only other things I did today were attending G’s lab (in which we discussed paranoia in the political context) and twice visiting the UO library’s exhibit of their new Tiptree archives, as I hadn’t yet finished reading all of the letters that were on display.
