Woodwind night

Tonight for Junior Orchestra, the kids in the woodwind section got to work with Elizabeth Rowe, who started as the fourth chair flute in Junior Orchestra and worked her way up to principal flutist with the Boston Symphony. It was open to the public, so I stuck around. After they worked with her a while, then the Youth Symphony had a turn, mostly doing the difficult bits of Carmen, which was a pleasure to listen to. (The winter concert for YS is going to be playing a lot of very popular pieces: selections from Carmen, the third movement of the New World Symphony, some Mozart, and the Mendelssohn violin concerto!)
